It *might* work, but if you build ethereal on 9.0 and 9.2 has a newer
version of some dynamic libs, things will fail. Also, Suse packages
for newer Suses may use features that were not available on older versions
(iirc, adns is one such feature). I don't think Ethereal on Suse supports
kerberos, but if it did, there would be another problem: Suse switched
from Heimdal to MIT between 9.2 and 9.3 (or maybe one release before that).

I think the proper way to do things would be to build Ethereal packages
for each version based on the original spec file for that release.

I don't know, but I think the same problems may be present with other
distros as well.
