Title: VoIP Call Analaysis (Call-Flow): Customization
Hi,
The
way ethereal evolves through the different versions is not pre-specified as in
other -maybe commercial-
products that have roadmaps. It is more like "whenever someone implements
something it is included". So
there
is no foreseen customization. If you want it, you've got two
possibilities:
- download the sources, write them yourself and, if you want them included in
the mainstream ethereal
-and share the results of your work- send them to
the development list; more information at
- include it in the ethereal wish list at
and wait for somebody to implement it -which might be
very late, or never-. If you simultaneously
ask for it in the development
list -or even in this one- you might get it
faster
This
said, the tool you refer to will use IP addresses or equipment names following
the generic
configuration for ethereal - under view, name resolution, network layer-.
And it is possible to
print
out the generated call flows, but only in an ASCII file -which should make
sense it you use
a
fixed-width font to watch it-. I do believe this is possible in the current
released version but, since
it is
a somehow recent change, you might need to wait for the following
one.

Dear All,
Thanks to the Ethereal team for
providing the VoIP Call Analysis Tool (Statistics menu) to generate the
Call-Flow. I am interested to customize the output generated by that tool e.g.
to replace the IP addresses with the Equipment Names in the Call-Flow or to
print out the generated Call-Flow etc...
I would like to know, whether
the desired customization is currently possible? If not, is it preview in the
coming ethereal versions?
All suggestions and directions
are welcomed. Thanking well in advance.
