I noticed that there were some packets which were captured on one site (the destination) but were not captured by the source. This indicates that the packets were dropped by Ethereal. Does Ethereal have any recommended system requirements (RAM, processor speeds and NIC)? Moreover, is the size of the RAM dependent on the size of the file being captured?

Just to be clear, you saw this:

PC-A  ---> pkt 1, ,3 ------cloud -----> pkt 1, 2, 3  PC-B

(for pkts 1,2, and 3, the SRC IP was PC-A and DST IP was PC-B)

the SRC and DST are quite important here because we can safely rule out real packet lost.
