Hello,

Is anyone working on, or has anyone considered, adding a plugin to ethereal
that allows the user to specify new arbitrary dissectors in a text-based
(perhaps xml) format?

If this can be implemented, it would make the process of adding support for new
protocols much easier/faster.

I'm interested in obtaining such a plugin, if it's already available, or 
developing it if it is not.  If anyone is currently working on this, can you
please let me know.
