Hello,

I am trying to run Ethereal 0.10.7 on Windows 2000 w/ Service Pack 4.  I am trying to install to a directory other than the default and I have encountered a problem/oddity.  I am trying to install all of the files into c:\apps\pcap\bin rather than c:\Program Files\Ethereal.  I have tried the following combinations:

GTK2 installation option installing to c:\apps\pcap\bin:
Ethereal does not come up and I get a Program Error: "ethereal.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.... (Event Viewer shows nothing in it's logs)

GTK2 installation option installing to c:\apps\pcap\bin\Ethereal (and every other directory I tried):
Works fine.

Ethereal with legacy GTK1 runs fine.

I have tried this on a number of different systems and get the same results each time.  I have no problem running Ethereal w/ GTK1 so it's not as large of a problem but it still bugs me.  Does anybody have any idea why I would be unable to run Ethereal w/ GTK2 installed to c:\apps\pcap\bin but not have have problems running the same thing installed to another directory?
