That might work.
...although I don't think there's any guarantee that a System Update or Security Update won't install a new version of one of the system rc scripts, throwing away the work you've done.
Does MacOS use purely BSD rc scripts or can you mix in SysV style ones as well? /etc/rc3.d/S99chown4ethereal 


Making a startup item might be safer:
