I think you are in a switched network. If you use the 'SPAN'(port
mirror/monitoring) command you should see the port from that port. If
you want to see a lot of traffic, mirror the port the router is connect
to on the switch.
In order to see wireless traffic, you must be capturing with a wireless
NIC; other wise it appears as an UNK protocol to the Ethernet (wired)
NIC.

I have used ethereal several times, usually while in college working on
some sort of networking assignment. I have, however, never been able to
capture packets not going to/from my computer. I am behind a router with
several other people, and I would think I should be able to see their
traffic as well. Am I just using Ethereal incorrectly? Shouldn't I be
able to see both wired and wirless traffic? Thank you.
