Today I upgraded to 0.10.6, and have had some problems with the standard
install options. I got a DOS box that displays a number of these lines in it when I start to capture or print. (After a while there are many of such lines):

(ethereal.exe:1368): Gdk-WARNING **: gdkwindow-win32.c:1681:
SetWindowLong failed: Access is denied.

I downloaded the source tarball but could find no gdkwindow-win32.c in
it, so I don't really know the reason.

But when I went into the installer and chose to install the
"Ethereal (legacy GTK1 user interface)" it does not happen. But the GTK 2 GUI looks so much nicer....

Is there anything I can do to remove the nasty DOS box when using GTK2?

Software version info:

I'm running Ethereal 0.10.6 on W2K with WinPcap_3_0.exe installed.

I'm not quite sure if GTK and Gdk are the same, but they seem to be related since installing with GTK1 removes the problem.

Before upgrading I had this installed:
* Ethereal v. 0.9.<something>
* WinPcap 2.3
* Gaim 1.0.0
* GTK runtime (gtk-runtime.exe) of version: 2.4.7 rev a.

I'm sorta suspecting an interaction problem with the GTK runtime that gets installed by Gaim... After upgrading Ethereal to WinPcap to 0.10.6 and 3.0 respectively, the errors started to happen. I've tried many combinations of removing and installing especially the GTK runtime 2.4.7 rev a and Ethereal, but I don't seem to be able to avoid this error DOS box.
