We need more information about the way you installed ethereal on those
computers which cannot run Ethereal 0.10.6.
Did you choose GTK2 or the legacy GTK1 version of ethereal 0.10.6?
Did you install GTK-Wimp?
Did you uninstall the old Ethereal before installing ethereal 0.10.6?
Uninstalling Ethereal first may help.
-------------
We installed the standard package except for GTK1 and GTK-Wimp after
uninstalling all previous versions. Thus we were using GTK-2 (which was
checked but greyed out). My peer and I both installed this program the
same way - his Toshiba Tecra 8100 crashed, my 9000 didn't. However,
0.10.5 works on his PC.
Let's try following. Move the files containing the Personal
configuration of your Ethereal to a different directory, so Ethereal
0.10.6 doesn't find these files and starts with default values. Don't
just remove these files, you probably want to restore them later and
we'd like to have a look at them if ethereal 0.10.6 doesn't crash
anymore.
To find the directory with these files, start Ethereal 0.10.5, click on
"Help->About Ethereal". At "Folders" look at "Personal configuration".
Typical files are "preferences", "dfilter", ...
Could send these files to the list please, if Ethereal 0.10.6 doesn't
crash without your personal configuration. They will help us to debug
this problem.

Lars
