Ethereal-users: [Ethereal-users] No interfaces in list after OS change from Win ME to Win 2k

I've previously had Ethereal running happily on a Sony Vaio laptop under Windows ME, but after updating the OS to Win 2k no Interfaces appear in the dropdown list. I've simultaneously uninstalled Winpcap and Ethereal and reinstalled them and run them from the Administrator account but still no interfaces list appears. Any advice on what to try next?
