At some point in the past (many months ago), something happened to appear to
cause MAC name resolution to stop working on my OS X system at work. I no
longer ever see OUIs decoded and displayed in any pane.
I'm not sure what the trigger was, just that I noticed it at some point, and
haven't been able to figure out what the problem is.
I currently have copies of the "manuf" file in /usr/local/etc, but also in /etc,
/lib/etc, ~/.ethereal, and the directory I'm executing ethereal from.
When I do a ktrace on ethereal and open a file (obviously, with MAC address
resolution enabled), I never see ethereal attempt to access "manuf" anywhere.
For grins I tried deleting my preferences file, though this didn't change a
thing.
Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions for anything else I should take
a look at?
