Ethereal-users: [Ethereal-users] Cannot capture all packets.

I am trying to analyze our network traffic but I am only seeing
broadcast traffic.  I have read the FAQ and have done some research but
I cannot find anything to help.

Software
  slackware 9.0 with the 2.4.20 kernel
  Ethereal 0.10.4
  Libpcap 0.8.3

Hardware
  HP Procurve 8000
  3com 509b nic, I have tried 3com 905b(uses same driver as 509b), and
kingston KNE100TX

I have setup a monitoring port on the procurve and have confirmed that I
am on that port.  I have set the NIC cards into promiscuous mode with
ifconfig.  I am not sure what else needs to be done.  I have tried
capturing with and without promiscuous mode.  I have turned off
promiscuous mode with ifconfig and let ethereal do it.  Tcpdump and
iptraf also only show broadcast traffic.  If there are any suggestions I
would appreciate them.
