Sometimes the capturefile can still be found in your temp directory. Maybe ethereal crashes because of the size of the capture. I have seen that happening to me sometimes. If you can find the capturefile, and it is too big, you can make it smaller with command line tool editcap that comes with ethereal. Editcap –r bigcapturefile smallcapturefile 1-10000 will give you packets 1 up to, and including, 10000 of the bigcapturefile.

Why does Ethereal crash after a capture is complete?  The program just closes down.  If anyone has any solutions I would appreciate the help.  Thanks.
