Actually it might be good to consider using the PDML (XML) output from
tetheal  (i.e. use the -Tpdml option) instead.
I recently started to use it for post-processing of tethereal output for
T.38 packets, and I will certainly use it more in the future.
The only disadvantage I have seen so far is that the PDML files can become
very large, but I think it is much more powerful
than using the text output.

You may still have similar problems that you have to do some modifications
to the post-processing progarms/scripts when there are dissector changes
and the PDML specification is not frozen yet.
