I assume you installed a binary version of Ethereal, as if you'd
compiled it from source, the configure script would have noticed that
there was no SNMP library and not linked with it.

If so, where did you get the binary package?  If you got it from The
Written Word, note that they also have Net-SNMP binary packages in

	ftp://ftp.thewrittenword.com/packages/by-name/net-snmp-5.0.9/alpha-dec-osf5.1/net-snmp-5.0.9.setld.tar.Z
