Seems fair, depending on the agreement you have with them.

There is no real "organisation" to Ethereal. If you want support, you either 
need to ask on the mailing list (and have no expectation of an accurate or 
timely answer), or contract with someone for that support.

I understand that a number of people who contribute to Ethereal will be happy 
to provide support (either as training, development or in a consultancy role) 
in exchange for money. I am not one of them though, and can't recommend 
anyone in particular.
