Hello,

I’m not sure if this is the correct address to send to for assistance with Ethereal. If not please let me know. I am a newbie with your product and am seeing some discrepancies between the documentation listed at:  http://www.ethereal.com/docs/user-guide/x2015.html#CH03SAVEAS

The capture file window I’m pulling up looks different (see attachment) and is not referencing libpcap files but only MIB files. Additionally, I am unable to create directories. I either get an error stating that “The path to the [file path] does not exist” (This is after I have created it and it is viewable in windows), or I am usually told I don’t have permission to create the directory if I try typing in the path manually (I am logged in as Admin).

I just need to be able to create a path to save to, and make sure that the files being saved are packet captures (libpcap) files. I have downloaded the newest non-beta version (ver. 3) of WinPcap and the ver. of Ethereal that’s currently posted on your web site, and ran a plain vanilla install on Win XP Media Center.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Best regards,

Chris
