Hi, On running Ethereal (ethereal-0.9.13) for an extended period (3-4 hours) and capturing about 60 thousand packets (small packets 62 bytes) I find a display corruption taking place. The GUI updation takes place outside the Ethereal window at the upper left corner of the screen. Other display problems also start. The look of the Ethereal GUI changes too. I have attached a picture of the state of the GUI. I am using Windows 2000 Professional. I find that the display corruption takes place only when "Automatic scrolling in Live Capture" is enabled. In \packetcap\ethereal-0.9.13\file.c, we call the function "packet_list_moveto_end()" only if "auto_scroll_live" is enabled. To try to debug the problem, which takes a few hours to simulate, I made the changes in the files attached to read a pkt file with auto-scrolling. "file.c" where in function "read_cap_file" "packet_list_thaw" is called additionally. "\packetcap\ethereal-0.9.13\gtk\packet_list.c" in function "packet_list_append" "packet_list_moveto_end" is called additionally. We have tried various changes in "packet_list_moveto_end" to try to solve the problem but without any success. The visible display problem occurs after we read the file with 9948 packets. This is very consistant (does not happen with 9947 packets). I have attached a file tenK.pkt with 9999 packets which may be used for testing. However, some other menus do get affected before this. I would be grateful if I could get some information / help on this issue. This could be a memory problem as I was not being able to save the bmp file. Thanks and regards Jayanta
