Spencer,

Try WinPCap v2.3

I had a similar problem in that my XP machine didn't see any NDISWan adapters for Point to Point captures
when my 2000 Pro box did.
After removing 3.0 and putting on 2.3, I see all the adapters on my machine.

Cheers

Brad

Subject: [Ethereal-users] Ntwk Adapters empty in WinXP Capture/Interface window

I've been a seasoned user of Ethereal and have used it in w95, w98 & w2k...however since being upgraded w/ WinXP machine, I can't get the Network Adapters to appear in the Capture window.  I've looked at all the FAQ for Ethereal & WinPcap (incl WinDump) to no avail...please help.

Computer/OS Specifications:

I have a Dell Latitude C610 (P3-1.2G) running WinXP Professional 2002, Version 5.1.2600, Service Pack 1.

I do not see any adapters available to choose from...as I previously in my other machine/OS, there were lots to choose from, e.g., 3Com Ethernet, Cisco WLAN, 1xRTT AirCard, VPN Extranet,....

Currently, my Network Adapters include 3Com 3C920 Intergrated FE Controller amongst others.

Note that I've tried using "WinDump - D" which resulted in the following,

C:\Documents and Settings\swong>windump -D
windump: PacketGetAdapterNames: The operation completed successfully.

I've tried WinPcap 3.0 and 3.0 alpha.  Also, I tried variations of Ethereal ver 0.9.7, ver 0.9.11, and ver 0.9.12.

Anybody who can help me...greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Regards,
Spencer
