The "NT" in "Windows NT" stands for "New Technology", i.e. it's a
reimplementation of Windows atop a new OS kernel, windowing code, etc..

One might then think about the older implementation of Windows as being
"Old Technology"; Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Me are releases of
Windows OT.

Which is Windows NT 5.0, just as "Windows XP" is Windows NT 5.1, and
"Windows Server 2003" is, I think, either Windows NT 5.2 or Windows NT
5.3.
