That would hve the same problem as editcap:

you wuld need to run it multiple times to split the capture file.

a splitcap utility would be better since it could do it in one single pass
over the file.

Maybe the -a option of tethereal could be used but I just tested it and it
does not work with -r. Is this correct? Would it be possible to get the -a
filesize:<value> to work with -r?
