The cisco.com drivers do not provide RFMON functionality any longer.  Try putting the card into promiscuous mode manually ("ifconfig eth0 up promisc") and watch your statistics with "iwconfig eth0" to see if you do get disassociated (AP will be listed as ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff).
