Maybe a silly question, but do you have any VPN software installed on the
laptop?
I have seen CheclPoing SecureRemote cause exactly the behaviour you
describe.
If you have something like this installed, you can easily test this:
Stop the VPN software (if it is running)
Disable it by going into the "General" properties tab of that adapter and
"unchecking" (removing the checkmark) from the VPN software and "Apply" the
change.
It should immediately fix the problem (although it will disable the VPN
software).

P.S. I don't know if this is a CheckPoint bug, something with the libpcap
library, a Win2K problem or something in ethereal, but I have seen it
several times.

I have a laptop with win2k and ethereal 0.9.9. When I connect to our
intranet to visit internet, I can only capture the incoming IP packet, all
the outgoing packet with my laptop's IP address as source IP address can not
be captured. I don't know if I set the wroing configuration for ethereal or
other problem.
