Hi,

I have problems to get version 0.9.8 compiled on HP-UX.
I had same kind of problems with versio 0.9.7 too and I
never solved that either. Compile stops always to next error:

/usr/ccs/bin/ld: Unsatisfied symbols:
   version (code)
/usr/ccs/bin/ld: (Warning) Linker features were used that may not be supported in future releases. The +vallcompatwarnings option can be used to display more details, and the ld(1) man page contains additional information. This warning can be suppressed with the +vnocompatwarnings option.
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gmake[2]: *** [ethereal] Error 1
gmake[2]: Leaving directory '/disks/treunix/work/GNU/ethereal/install_0.9.8'
gmake[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
gmake[1]: Leaving directory '/disks/treunix/work/GNU/ethereal/install_0.9.8'
gmake: *** [all] Error 2

I had similar problems with version 0.8.2 and 0.9.0 and then I fixed
the problem changing couple settings to "static" to packet-icq.c
file. Versions 0.9.4 and 0.9.5 worked fine without any modifications.
Now I had no more ideas what to try next, but can anyone help?

I think that the problem might be the same static problem vith
"version", but I don't know what or where to make the fix.

I have used the next configure options, of course tried several different
versions and options:
./configure --with-pcap=/apps/tww/libpcap07 --with-glib-prefix=/apps/tww/glib12 --with-zlib=/apps/tww/zlib11 --disable-threads --prefix=/disks/tretools/hpux10/ethereal/v0.9.8

Thanks!
Br,
Mika Kilpelinen
