Well, that *is* a risk you run when adding third-party drivers to your
OS, which is what you have to do in order to capture packets.

I'd suggest that you download WinDump and try capturing packets with it
- specify a snapshot length of 65535 with "-s 65535", and write to a
file with the "-w" flag.

If it crashes when you do that, it's probably either a bug in the
WinPcap driver or in Windows XP; in either case, you should report it to
the WinPcap developers:
