Hello,

Thanks for developing and supporting this product. While capturing packets with Win32 Ethereal 0.9.7, I started to experience sudden crashes (lots of disk activity immediately before the program vanishes), usually when "stopping" a promiscuous mode capture.

My system is P4-1.8GHz Win2k Pro SP2 (we don't agree with SP3's terms), with one 3Com NIC, 512MB memory, and plenty of HD space. I have the latest patches incl. latest AV definitions. I have a lot of applications installed, including development platforms, so reinstallation is not an option.

This crash was occurring with 0.9.6, which is why I installed .7 - and I was running WinPCap 2.3 from go. I've restarted, tried capturing to a file (this doesn't seem to do anything), and some other little things. It's reproducable, and always crashes if I perform a particular series of commands, doesn't with others. Sometimes the capture window (which displays the number of packets captured, and a %age breakdown) stays open while the main window closes. Obviously this is no longer connected to anything, though I tried.

While this binary is supposed to contain debugging symbols, Dr. Watson never appears, nor are there events in my EventLog. It's relatively important (to me) to try to get this working, so any nudges on how to proceed, to submit/resolve the error, would be appreciated.

Best,

 Kirk
