Update: I took out all the compile flag optimizations, reconfig and compile and
no more core dump. I had -mcpu=ultrasparc as the main optimization.

Seems I've having the problem described in the Requirements for Compiling on Solaris 2.8. And yes, I have read it. But I was hoping to get a few more details
or other alternatives.

I have 1.2.10 from Sunfreeware in /usr/local/lib. Ethereal configured and built fine, and tehtereal will run, but ethereal core dumps. It was compiled with
gcc 2.95.3 also from Sunfreeware.

The problem is I really don't want to have to reload gtk because I'm
very dependent on Mozilla and KDE3, both of with use the current version,
and I'd rather not risk messing them up (I know Mozilla uses it, not sure about kde), or getting out of sync with the rest of my group who also have the same libs.

I can't install the precompiled binary because it enforces the gtk be loaded
as a package, which its not.
Are there any other suggestions? Can someone explain in more detail what
is wrong?

Thanks,
Brian
