here is a *.cap file from my network monitor.. only about a 3 sec. capture.. but you can see the amount of traffic i'm talking about..

What MAC level addresses are being used in the packets?
The VoIP app could be using unicast addressing at the network layer and
broad/multicasting for delivery.
