I've been having some slowness on my network lately. So I spanned a port
on my Catalyst, connected a linux box running ethereal and let it run.
During this time I managed to replicate a problem I tried pinging one
local computers address. It failed for 3 or 4 tries and then I hit it.
Now I want to see if I can track the problem down. The machine that did
the pinging is a ServersAlive machine that does 10 tests every 5 minutes.
I did the find frame ip.addr==172.16.0.70 and went through all the
entries, but I can't find where it went to 172.16.8.13. All the entries
show the destination of 172.16.3.255 which is the broadcast for that
vlan/segment. The ping is crossing v-lans, but I don't think that should
matter.

I'm reading the doc, searching the web, and going through past list
archives.
By the way, I'm new to ethereal, and sniffing so please be gentle with me.

Mike
