Dear Gerald et al.:
I've been using the Ethereal Sniffer for a while (really since
version 0.8.15) an found it to be one of the best sniffers i've ever tried.
But now, let's go straight to the point: lately I've been using the
sniffer to test different vendors VoIP-related equipment and when using
access servers and I try to decode a trace (that I attach later) involving
the Radius authentication protocol, in the Access Request (Code=1), in
particular within the attribute value pairs, the User Password (type=2)
field for this trace appears in blank in the tree window (the full line
corresponding to this entry is allocated, but the line is empty). However,
when I make a printout, the User Password field appears correctly. So, I
reviewed the source code for the Radius dissector and seemed perfectly for
me (as I deducted from the printout). I think that maybe, there's a problem
with the graphic control you're using for the GUI that's interpreting some
or all of the non-printable characters.
Thanks again for such a masterpiece in this competitive packet
sniffing world, and keep up with your work.
P.S.: It would be very nice to have a MEGACO 1.0 (RFC 3015 and/or H.248)
dissector. If you're in need of samples I can send them to you anytime (just
reply or send me an E-mail and I would be very pleased to send them). If I
find some time, I wold like to contribute making a dissector or plug-in for
a protocol (if it's possible).
