According to http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/freeware/index.html, the
Software Companion CD that comes with Solaris 8 2/02 comes with Glib and
GTK+ 1.2.10 - you could try those as well.  Note that the CD also comes
with Ethereal 0.8.15 - I strongly recommend that you install 0.9.3 (or
0.9.4, which should be out in a few days) instead.
