I'm not sure how I missed that in the FAQ. I have a couple of Dell c600s running FreeBSD 4.4, so I guess I know what I need to do. . .

	http://www.ethereal.com/faq.html#q4.21

says you need

	Linux, with a 2.4.6 or later kernel

or

	FreeBSD 4.5 or later.

Ethereal (like tcpdump, and other programs using libpcap/WinPcap) is at
the mercy of the device drivers and the rest of the OS for
packet-capture services.

Ethereal on other platforms can *read* 802.11 captures taken with other
platforms or with some other applications, but it can't *itself* capture
on 802.11 devices.
