The GTK+ that is used for the current version of Ethereal requires 16 bit
color. They mentioned trying to use GTK+2.0 which is more recent, but it
was not a priority so don't expect it soon.

Subject: [Ethereal-users] 256 colors = no ethereal?

So I would like to be able to run ethereal over my terminal server
connection,
but thats only capable of 256 colors, and ethereal will not run.
which doesnt make a whole lotta sense to me... The instances of ethereal
that i DO run dont see that color intensive to me
does anyone know how to get ethereal to run in an environment only capable
of 256 colors

thanks in advance
