I want monitor the error rate of my network and... I wonder what

filter I must apply. Is this simply possible with ethreal or tcpdump

If not, what soft allow you to do this ?
What sort of "errors": CRC failures, router's discarding packets, TCP
Resets, TTL expireds? There's a billion things that can go wrong in on
network and no one filter will pick them all up. Even if there was such a
filter, you'd need to see non-erroring frames to work out what was going on.
A good starting point would probably be to use SNMP and check ifInErrors,
ifInDiscards etc. I thoroughly recommend MRTG (www.mrtg.org) for collecting
and presenting SNMP stats. Once you've isolated a problem then use Ethereal
to trace all relevant frames and work out what to do.
