Hello all,

Just thought it would be nice to announce that ethereal-0.9.2 configured and compiled without any problems an AIX 5.1 using vac.version C 5.0.2 plus updates. Before I got so far that I could run configure (with version 0.9.1) I also downloaded and compiled the following opensource packages:

libtool-1.4.2
patch-2.5.4 (forgot why I needed that one)
bison-1.32
flex-2.5.4a
libpcap-0.7.1 (compiled --with-pcap=dlpi as in README.aix)
tcpdump-3.7.1
gtk+-1.2.10
glib-1.2.10
previously compiled (for ssh, not all needed for ethereal I think)
openssh-3.0.2p1
openssl-0.9.6
zlib-1.1.3

As AIX also has it's own version of libpcap.a I am going to try (someday) compiling ethereal with native libpcap rather that the opensource version.

Thanks for a great tool.

regards,
Michael Felt

p.s. I am going to test running it on AIX 4.3.3 as well. I'll keep you informed.
