I'm trying to debug Ethereal to understand why it fails to list the adapters
under XP, while "windump -D" works.

Fine.

To all the users with this problem, do you try "tethereal -D"?
It must return the same list as of "windump -D".

So here is my output, I have included version output:
------------------------
C:\Temp\Giftschrank>windump.exe -D
1.\Device\Packet_{58634D63-6C4F-4607-AEB3-A1BBB4EA120A} (Intel 8255x-based Integ
rated Fast Ethernet (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler) )
2.\Device\Packet_NdisWanIp (NdisWan Adapter (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler) )

C:\Temp\Giftschrank>windump.exe -V
windump.exe version 3.6.2, based on tcpdump version 3.6.2
WinPcap version 2.3, based on libpcap version 0.6.2
Usage: windump.exe [-adDeflnNOpqStuvxX] [-B size] [-c count] [ -F file ]
               [ -i interface ] [ -r file ] [ -s snaplen ]
               [ -T type ] [ -w file ] [ expression ]

C:\Programme\Ethereal>tethereal -D

C:\Programme\Ethereal>tethereal --version
tethereal: illegal option -- -
tethereal 0.9.1, with GLib 1.3.2, with libpcap (version unknown), with libz 1.1.
3, with UCD SNMP 4.2.2
------------------------

As you can see, the list from "-D" is just empty.
tetheral does not give the version for libpcap.
Could that be related to my problem ?

Since I do not have this problem on my XP machine, I need some "testers" who
have the above mentioned problem ("windump -D" working but Ethereal
failing).

Alright, I am willing to do all possible tests includeing beta's and so on.
But I am in holidays for four weeks from thursday on
but I will try to keep up with my email from remote.

Bye & thanks in advance, Jens
