Does anybody know anything about MSN Instant messaging protocols? - Anyway I
have a LAN which uses
my machine as the gateway to the Internet.
I was curious about this MSN protocol and put Ethereal on my ISP adapter to
look at the data. One of my other
machines was also logged into the MSN server with their own Email addresses.
If I chat to this machine everything
goes through the MSN server and data can be viewed no problem.
However, if I select to send to my other machine say a File or photo, I see
the protocol requesting a Data IP and port
number but no File xfer data is collected? just the start of the session and
then the ends of the session.
The file was sent across my LAN? how does it do this? I thought everything
from MSN-IM had to go through the
server on port 1863?
