Which version of Ethereal do you have installed? I've installed Ethereal
0.8.20 on my W2K machine at work, and

	C:\Program Files\Ethereal>.\tethereal -v
tethereal 0.8.20, with GLib 1.3.2, with libpcap (version unknown),
	    without libz, without SNMP

"tethereal -v" worked just fine.
