How about on the Win 98 machine? If I can save filters there, I can use
that until I can get the Win 2000 machine working.

Also, is there anyway, I can get a listing of all the files/directories
that are installed and where they are supposed to be installed. I don't
seem to have an Appdata directory on my system either and am definitely
missing at least 4 files that have been mentioned in the errors. How can
I ensure that I even have a complete and correct installation of Ethereal?
Would you be willing to give me a printout of the files/folders in the
ethereal directory and the contents of any subfolders? Could you include
a printout of the contents of the \appdata\ethereal folder. I was even a
good girl and let it install to c:\program files\ethereal like it wanted
to instead of changing the directory. I have also tried installing at the
root of the d drive.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give in this area. Is there
someone who is particularly experienced with Windows installs. I do not
have access to a Unix client right now.

By the way, I can read existing capture files and this program has already
helped me identify a client problem very quickly that would have taken
longer with my other sniffer packages because it highlighted the proxy
server challenges separately from other traffic.

I have had only minimal chance to look at it.

I don't have Windows 2000 at home.

Ethereal, on my Windows 2000 machine at work, appears not to find stuff
in the "Ethereal" subdirectory of the APPDATA directory.

The debugging version I built at home crashes when I run it at work.

I don't have a C compiler or debugger on my Windows 2000 machine at
work, so I don't know why it's crashing.

I have no idea when I will have an answer for this.
