Yes, it had a bug where

	1) promiscuous mode wasn't the default, so you had to explicitly
	   select it;

	2) promiscuous mode didn't work in "Update list of packets in
	   real time" captures.

...i.e., by editing the preferences file.

You could also force it by

	starting Ethereal;

	starting a capture, and explicitly selecting promiscuous mode;

	stopping the capture;

	*without exiting Ethereal*, saving preferences from the dialog
	box popped up from the "Preferences" item in the "Edit" menu.

Yes, that's the right answer - 0.8.18 had some other bugs that could
cause crashes, so the right answer is "upgrade to 0.8.19".
