I knew I had read this somewhere recently, and after a lot of searching:
Winsock2.0 did not ship with (some/all?) releases of win95. The apache FAQ
says it is available from http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/.
Some different site says that the NT4.0 version of this file will not work
on win95 so don't try copying it from an NT machine, try the website. Good
luck, it looks hairy to me :-(

Others will have to rule if this is really necessary for ethereal/winpcap,
but I suspect it will at least get you going.

Subject: [Ethereal-users] ethereal installation

Hi,

I installed Ethereal and WinPcap on my Win 96 OSR2 PC. The installs
appeared to run successfully. When I tried to execute Ethereal, I got the
msg that a needed DLL WS2_32.dll was not found. This file was not on my PC
or the Win 95 installation CD. I scanned all the CABs on the CD and did not
find it there. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
