You might try increasing the swap space, although that'll only postpone
the day of reckoning.  The particular memory allocation that failed
wasn't one for the packet list widget, but I'll bet most of the memory
in the process's address space was for the strings for that widget.

That'll probably work better - but when you stop the capture, it'll read
the capture file in, and probably crash for the same reason.

The answer appears to be "No, Ethereal can't run for 24 hours" - you'd
have to use Tethereal.
