I have been using ethereal on my linux box, and have also been using ethereal on my nt installation.
I noticed that if I tell etheral to start capturing packets, but disabled promiscuous mode, it does not capture packets that my host sent. For example, if I ping, I only get echo replies on ethereal. If I recapture packets, but enable promiscuous mode, it then shows both echo requests and echo replies. 

I noticed this behaviour only on the etheral-NT. ethereal on linux is okay.

Using 0.8.14 in both linux and NT.
