You're not seeing the item mentioned in the FAQ: that causes Ethereal to
lock up when there's _no_ traffic on the network.  Lots of traffic would
make an Ethereal with that problem feel very fluid.

I don't know what problem you're seeing.  At least now you know what not
to blame.  :)
