Changing the version of Ethereal shouldn't make any difference - the
problem is in the code that Ethereal's using to open interfaces and to
capture on them, namely WinPcap.

It might be worth trying the previous of the next version of WinPcap,
when it comes out, as per Fulvio's suggestion:
