On some machine we are not able to open the adapter. I don't know why. The
main problem is that we are not able to replicate this event, so debugging
is quite difficult.
We hope to be able to release a preview of the next version in a couple of
weeks.
Finally, NDISWAN is not supported.
Cheers,

Subject: [ethereal-users] What else to do when "Error opening Adapter"?

hi,
I have Windows NT4 SP5 for workstation.
I just installed ethereal-0.8.11 and winpcap "WPdpack.zip" (the latest),
this through Control Panel->Network....
After rebooting and opening the exe file, the gui is there for the ethereal.
The default Interface is \Device\Packet_EI90xs1 *but* when I do
"Capture-->Start-->OK", it doesn's start and it gives me this message:

The capture session could not be initiated (Error opening adapter).
Please check to make sure you have sufficient permissions and that you
have the proper interface specifie.

I tried the other interfaces but it gives me the same message(above). The
other interfaces are: "\Device\Packet_CBENT2" and
"\Device\Packet_EI9206".
I tried both with the supervisor account and as a regular user account.
I tried to do "net config workstation" where it gave me "NetBT_NdisWan5
(some bunch of zeroes)" and entered it like these and still doesn't work:
                     "\Device\NetBT_NdisWan5"
                     "\NetBT_NdisWan5"
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
TIA,
Albert
