Yes tcpdump is affected by the same problem.
The OS is Linux Alpha, kernel 2.2.14 
and the FDDI h/w is a digital defpa.

As for the filter, it does not work neither a filter
that check the host nor a filter that check the port.

By the way, also ntop does not work, i wonder if there could 
be a problem in the libpcap.
I sent a mail also to the author of ntop, by now he did not
reply.

PS: (for Guy)
I can capture the network traffic in a file (without
any filter) and send to you, if you think it would be
useful.
