Hi,

I am repeating an old question as I have not been able to deal with this
challenge so far. I am trying to find out the total number of packets lost
in the network during a ftp transfer. I have a dedicated network (client and
server) and ethereal is running on a third Linux box (connected through a
hub) to capture the TCP traffic. I can find the number of retransmissions
from the capture file (which is a close approximation for number of packets
lost). Still my problem is to get the exact number of packets lost in the
network. Will running NETSTAT at both end before and after the run help. May
be IFCONFIG....I am not sure....I tried running IFCONFIG and NETSTAT but
can't come to any conclusion. Any help or suggestions will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
