I.e., you are trying to *compile* it on a system that doesn't have X11
or GTK+ installed?  Tethereal doesn't include any of that stuff, so it
should, as built, *run* on a machine without X installed, as long as you
have a machine with them installed (running the same OS and CPU
architecture) on which to build it.

Tethereal *does* require GLib, but GLib doesn't require X.
