Well, once I managed to extract the patch from the stuff in which it was
embedded (the attachment was in Microsoft Transport Neutral Exchange
Format, or whatever "ms-tnef" is, and had a pile of binary gunk in front
of and after the patch), it seems to be a good starting point.

However, it doesn't seem to be adding "-lssl" anywhere.

It looks as if it'll include "-lcrypto" if it finds one that defines
"EVP_md5", whether it's necessary or not, and as if it'll include
"-lkstat" if it finds one that defines "kstat_open", whether it's
necessary or not, but if it's harmless to include those routines if they
don't happen to be necessary, I guess that's OK.
